Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has outscored his teammate at all of the previous five grands prix.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after his victory in Mexico City a fortnight back, outpaced the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in realistic title contention, lying 36 points Norris, ended up in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he lost control at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before spinning across the run-off area, and was lucky to escape with just a slight brush of the barrier.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the conclusion of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho corner leading to the final corner on to the pit straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber in third, over half a second slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
